Mystic Art Studio
Dear Challengers:
Hello, everyone! We are [Yopu Nopu Studio], the development team behind Mystic Art Studio.
This game was born from a 21-day GameJam and has gone through many ups and downs. We’re excited to finally present it to you.
1. Where did the gameplay come from? The inspiration for Mystic Art Studio came from a tabletop game called CABO. In CABO, players must memorize the four face-down cards they hold, a small memory challenge that keeps them focused and mentally engaged throughout the game. Combined with the “Light” theme of this GameJam and our team's strength in strategy games, we developed our initial concept:
- Through a sudden lights-out feature, we encourage players to remember the contents of their canvas, enhancing focus and immersion.
2. Why do we call this an experimental gameplay? After researching games that challenge players' "spatial imagination" and "spatial memory," we found that these types of games can impose a heavy cognitive load, making them less likely to be frequently revisited by players. In the spirit of “exploring the potential of gameplay,” we chose to take on this challenge, hoping to create a game that players will come back to often. We believe GameJam is all about pioneering and creativity.
3. What can you experience in this game?
- Roguelike 🎲: Some randomness and replayability.
- Drawing 🎨: The creatures you draw will come to life and fight for you.
- Growth ✨: A unique mechanism—selling your creatures will permanently enhance them.
- Strategy 🎮: You need to choose which creatures to draw, strategically deploy them, and balance short-term and long-term gains.
With your brush, you’ll bring dynamic creatures to life to fight for you.
